Up for sale is an original vintage theatre programme from POST-WWII 1946 WOLVERHAMPTON HIPPODROME THEATRE PROGRAMME – “STRIKE A NEW NOTE”
An original, authentic immediate post-war era theatrical programme from the Wolverhampton Hippodrome (The General Theatre Corporation Ltd). This collectible piece of entertainment ephemera documents the production run for the week commencing Monday, April 8th, 1946.
Presented by George and Alfred Black (for George Black Ltd.), this historic revue titled “Strike a New Note” was transferred directly from the Prince of Wales’ Theatre, London. It features a brilliant lineup of variety, comedy, and radio stars of the 1940s.

• Venue: Wolverhampton Hippodrome, West Midlands
• Date: Week commencing Monday, April 8th, 1946 (Twice Nightly at 5:30 and 7:50)
• Star Lineup: Features legendary English comedians Richard Murdoch and Sam Costa (massively famous during this era for their BBC radio stardom), alongside comic genius Freddie Frinton (internationally famous for the “Dinner for One” sketch).
• Variety Acts: Includes Tommy Glen, Rene Powell, Freddie Frinton, Cleef & Moroney (The Dominion Acromedians), Sam Costa, Odette Field, Leslie Noyes, Maureen Riscoe, Dot Delvaine, Charles Byrne, Betty Adams, and The John Tiller Girls.
