This specific badge variant dates to pre-1908. It represents the historic period when the volunteer forces of Hertfordshire were tied directly to the parent Bedfordshire Regiment. Following the Haldane Reforms in 1908, these units split away to form the standalone Hertfordshire Regiment. Because this specific configuration was only issued for a short window of time, authentic original examples are quite scarce and highly sought after today.
