Product Overview: For sale is an authentic, original South Staffordshire Regiment Cap Badge dating from the WWI / WWII era. This classic piece of British Army infantry insignia is a beautiful bi-metal construction, featuring a white-metal Stafford Knot and a gilded brass/gilding metal King’s Crown and lower regimental title scroll. A fantastic piece of genuine frontline history for any militaria, British Army, or World War collector.
Historical : The South Staffordshire Regiment was a highly distinguished line infantry regiment of the British Army with a history stretching back to 1705. During World War I, the regiment raised 18 battalions and saw intense action across the Western Front (including the Somme and Ypres) and Gallipoli. During World War II, they achieved legendary status when their 1st and 2nd Battalions were converted into elite airborne troops, fighting valiantly as glider infantry in Sicily, the Chindit campaigns in Burma, and the famous Battle of Arnhem (Operation Market Garden). The iconic Staffordshire Knot featured on the badge is an ancient local symbol dating back over a thousand years.
