Up for sale is an original post-1953 British Army 5th Royal Inniskilling Dragoon Guards cap badge. Crafted in striking silver anodised aluminium (AA Staybrite), this piece features the interlocking “VDG” regimental cypher surmounted by the Queen’s Crown (QC). Designed for minimal maintenance, this lightweight insignia was worn on berets and caps from the mid-20th century onward. Perfect for military collectors, veterans, or historical displays.

History About the Item
The 5th Royal Inniskilling Dragoon Guards was a distinguished cavalry regiment of the British Army. Formed in 1922, the regiment carried its iconic interlocking “VDG” cypher to honor the legacy of the 5th Dragoon Guards. After 1953, the regiment transitioned its uniform insignia to feature the Queen’s Crown made from “Staybrite” anodised aluminium. This design accompanied the regiment through major Cold War deployments until they were amalgamated into The Royal Dragoon Guards in 1992.
