Up for sale is an original Devonshire and Dorset Regiment British Army headdress cap badge. This high-quality bi-color insignia features a brilliant silver central three-turreted castle overlaid with a beautifully detailed golden Sphinx resting on a “MARABOUT” tablet. The layout is bordered by dual scroll bands containing the historic regimental mottoes “SEMPER FIDELIS” and “PRIMUS IN INDIS”. Produced in lightweight, non-tarnish anodised aluminium (AA Staybrite), it features an integrated long vertical slider on the back for secure beret or visor hat attachment. Perfect for historical military collectors or veteran displays.

- Details: The gold and silver anodised finish is highly reflective with no fading or discolouration. All crisp details on the reverse hollows and front brickwork are fully intact. The factory solder joint holding the vertical rear slider is completely firm, straight, and structurally secure with no bending.
History About the Item
The Devonshire and Dorset Regiment was an infantry line regiment of the British Army active from 1958 until 2007. This unique insignia pays tribute to the distinct heritage of its two parent regiments. The iconic three-turreted Exeter castle is inherited from the Dorset Regiment, while the golden Sphinx honors the Devonshire Regiment’s historic victory over French forces at the Battle of Marabout in Egypt (1801). Staybrite variations of this badge were proudly worn during deployments across Northern Ireland, Germany, and various UN peacekeeping missions before the regiment was incorporated into The Rifles.
