Up for sale is an original, maker-marked Royal Army Dental Corps British Army cap badge. This highly detailed, striking bi-color insignia features a central silver dragon’s head with a sword held firmly in its jaws. The dragon is beautifully framed by a golden laurel wreath, surmounted by the Queen’s Crown (QC), and underlines a lower scroll reading “EX DENTIBUS ENSIS”. Struck in brilliant, non-tarnish anodised aluminium (AA Staybrite). Crucially, the reverse slider features the authentic, highly legible maker’s stamp: “FIRMIN LONDON”. Perfect for military historians, specialized maker-mark variant collections, or veteran displays.

History About the Item
The Royal Army Dental Corps is the specialist branch of the British Army Medical Services responsible for providing dental care to military personnel. Originally formed in 1921, the corps was granted the “Royal” prefix in 1946 for its vital service during WWII. The unique insignia features a dragon’s head gripping a sword to reference the classical myth of Cadmus, who sowed dragon’s teeth into the earth which instantly grew into an army of fully-armed warriors. This Staybrite version was produced by the historic military outfitters Firmin London following Queen Elizabeth II’s coronation in 1953, accompanying RADC personnel on global deployments until the corps was amalgamated into the Royal Army Medical Service in 2024.
