Item description
Original 1953 Lyric Theatre Hammersmith Programme – The Beaux’ Stratagem Full Cast: John Clements, Kay Hammond, Robert Eddison, David Bird, Charles Lloyd Pack, Gwen Cherrell, Iris Russell
Up for sale is an original vintage theatre programme documenting the Thursday, 2nd July 1953 performance of George Farquhar’s classic restoration comedy, The Beaux’ Stratagem, staged at the historic Lyric Theatre in Hammersmith.
This production was under the renowned management of John Clements and features a stellar mid-century British theatrical cast. The billing stars John Clements himself as Archer and Kay Hammond as Mrs. Sullen, alongside celebrated character actors Robert Eddison, David Bird, Gwen Cherrell, and Charles Lloyd Pack.
The front cover features a beautiful black-and-white performance photograph of the lead actors in full period costume, accented by elegant red typographic flourishes at the base. The inside pages provide a full cast list, scene-by-scene breakdown, and credit lists for the production crew. A wonderful acquisition for collectors of classic British theatre ephemera, post-war London stage archives, or fans of John Clements and Kay
