This iconic youth organization insignia features an expertly styled lifebelt / lifering design with realistic twisted rope borders, prominently lettered with the title “THE LIFE BOYS”. Positioned at the center is a classic fouled anchor entwined with a rope, flanked by the bold organization initials “L” and “B”. The anchor is flanked by their legendary biblical motto banners reading “SURE” and “STEDFAST”.

Struck in solid brass/bronze with a deep, rich chemically aged finish, the reverse side features its original vertical rear brooch pin fastening system. This beautiful specimen is an excellent addition for collectors of the Boys’ Brigade movement, scouting memorabilia, youth organization history, or maritime youth heritage.

Used / Very Good Vintage Condition. This classic youth organization badge is in wonderful structural shape with no bends, deep scoring, or crushing to the raised lettering or rope borders. The front face features an exceptionally crisp strike, showcasing distinct texturing across the lifebelt surface and flawless legibility on the tiny motto text scrolls. The reverse side clearly shows the clean, mirror-image die-struck indentations and retains its original, gorgeous uncleaned dark chocolate aged brass-bronze patina with light authentic verdigris inside the deeper recessed tracks. The rear vertical brooch pin and catching clasp remain completely original, unbent, structurally sound, and fully functional. The Life Boys was officially formed in 1926 following the successful merger of two distinct Christian youth movements: the Boys’ Life Brigade’s junior section (The Life Boys) and The Boys’ Brigade’s junior section (The Boy Reserves). Functioning as a highly disciplined junior reserve wing for boys aged 9 to 11, the organization taught teamwork, community values, and Christian citizenship.

The symbolic design of the badge heavily incorporates maritime rescue imagery to reflect their core name, while retaining the anchor emblem and the famous motto “Sure and Stedfast” drawn from the New Testament (Hebrews 6:19: “Which hope we have as an anchor of the soul, both sure and stedfast”). In 1966, the name was discontinued as part of a massive structural modernization scheme that fully integrated the junior section directly into The Boys’ Brigade as the “Anchor Section”. This specific bronzed pin badge is a beautifully preserved, verified 1926–1966 era artifact from a bygone era of youth organization history.
