This is an authentic, vintage United States Air Force Ground Defense embroidered identification badge patch. Item History
The USAF base security units date their modern lineage back to the Air Provost Marshal units of WWII. Throughout the Cold War, Vietnam War, and subsequent operations, these specialized airmen were tasked with vital nuclear defense, air base security, and force protection. This specific subdued rectangle patch configuration was worn primarily on the OG-107 sateen and tropical weight fatigues from the late 1960s up through the introduction of the multi-colored BDU camo uniforms in the 1980s.
