Description
This is an authentic, vintage United States Air Force Strategic Air Command (SAC) subdued uniform patch. Introduced during the Cold War era for operational field and flight uniforms (such as the OG-107 and BDU fatigues), this patch features the iconic SAC shield emblem. The artwork beautifully displays a mailed gauntlet emerging from a cloud, firmly gripping three red lightning bolts (representing aerospace strike power) and an olive branch (signifying peace). The subdued color palette was engineered to keep personnel camouflaged in tactical environments. A highly collectible piece of American military aviation history, ideal for veterans, shadow boxes, or militaria collections.

Item History
The Strategic Air Command (SAC) was a legendary command active from 1946 until its inactivation in 1992. During the height of the Cold War, SAC held supreme control over two out of three legs of America’s nuclear triad—specifically managing land-based strategic bomber fleets (like the B-52 Stratofortress) and Intercontinental Ballistic Missiles (ICBMs). Subdued patches like this specimen were primary uniform components from the late 1960s through the late 1980s until the command was reorganized into Air Combat Command (ACC).
