Description
This is an authentic, vintage United States Air Force Tactical Air Command (TAC) subdued uniform patch. Designed during the Cold War era for field operations and flight clothing, this patch features the official TAC shield insignia. The imagery showcases a winged sword, symbolizing aggressive aerial combat readiness and defensive strength, set against a split green and red field. - Details: Shows genuine military field service wear. There is noticeable thread fraying around the outer merrowed edge from being carefully unstitched from a service uniform. The reverse side clearly displays original white and green bobbin thread patterns alongside remnant loose structural strings. The embroidery remains tight, and the colors are well-preserved with no dry rot. Please inspect all high-resolution front and back photos for specific edge wear.
Item History
The Tactical Air Command (TAC) was established in 1946 and served as a vital pillar of USAF air power until its inactivation in 1992, when its assets were merged to form Air Combat Command (ACC). Throughout the Cold War, Vietnam War, and Gulf War, TAC was responsible for the organization, training, and deployment of tactical fighter squadrons, interceptors, and reconnaissance aircraft. Subdued variants like this piece were standard issue from the late 1960s through the early 1990s.
