Description: Up for sale is a genuine, scarce die-stamped brass cap badge for the Home Counties Reserve Regiment (also serving English Reserve Regiments) dating from the Queen Victoria / Boer War era (circa 1900). The badge beautifully exhibits the full Royal Coat of Arms flanked by the Lion and Unicorn.

Historical – The Home Counties Reserve Regiment was formed in 1900 alongside several other royal reserve regiments during the height of the Second Boer War. These units were raised from veteran soldiers to handle home defense duties while the regular army battalions fought in South South Africa. Because these regiments existed for only a very brief window before being disbanded, their specific insignia is highly sought after by Victorian-era collectors.
