This is an original Victorian-era military cap badge for the Queen’s Edinburgh Rifle Volunteer Brigade. The badge is struck in the shape of a Maltese Cross. Each arm of the cross features raised lettering that reads: “Queen’s”, “Rifle”, “Volunteer”, and “Brigade”. The central circular emblem displays the Edinburgh Castle motif. The reverse side features the two original copper loops firmly intact, which were used to secure the badge to a glengarry or cap.
