Item description
Up for sale is a rare, authentic vintage theatre programme for the March 1965 production of “A Million for a Smile” by Anatoli Sofronov, staged at the historic Tower Theatre in Canonbury, London.
This specific production was the First London Production of this translated Russian satirical comedy (translated by Cynthia Pughe from the French version by Gala Solovieva and Henriette Valot), making it an incredible piece of post-war theatrical history.
Cast: John Blanchford, Colin Burns, Donald Goffin, Bobbie Peacock and Vivien Rich

- Playwright: Anatoli Sofronov (noting its original 1960 Moscow debut at the Mossoviet Theatre)
- Director: Directed by John Tydeman (who later went on to become the highly influential Head of BBC Radio Drama)
