Up for sale is a matching pair of 2 authentic, original vintage 1992 “The Death of Superman” promotional fold-tab badges. These collectible items were manufactured by DC Comics Inc. and distributed directly to comic book shops and conventions in late 1992 to promote the groundbreaking, historic comic storyline where Superman tragically meets his end at the hands of Doomsday.
Each piece features the iconic white Superman shield symbol coupled with the text “R.I.P.” against a solid funeral-black finish. Instead of using a traditional safety pin, these utilize a vintage lithograph-style flat metal tab at the top designed to bend over a jacket pocket, shirt line, or display banner.
