This is an original vintage wrestling programme from Friday, June 15th, 1979, held at the Guildhall, Portsmouth. Promoted by Dale Martin Promotions Ltd, this card features some of the most iconic figures of British wrestling’s “Golden Era.”
Star Attractions & Matchups:
- Main Event (£500 Ladder Match): Features the formidable Mighty John Quinn (Canada) taking on the technical master Tony St. Clair (Manchester). Ladder matches were exceptionally rare in the UK during this period, making this a highly unique piece for historians.
- Champion Showcases:
- Champion Steve Grey vs. Chato Pastor. Grey was a legendary technical lightweight champion.
- Champion Marty Jones (Oldham) vs. Colin Joynson. Jones was one of the most respected wrestlers on World of Sport.
- Notable Debuts: Includes Tokyo Joe in his “First appearance in this country” facing the fan-favorite Johnny ‘Black’ Kwango.
