Description – Up for auction is a 100% genuine, guaranteed original British Army Worcestershire Regiment cap badge. This is the highly collectible all-brass “Economy Pattern” manufactured during World War I.
History – Formed during the 1881 Childers Reforms, the Worcestershire Regiment carried an illustrious combat lineage. The central motto “FIRM” was inherited directly from the 36th Regiment of Foot, who were granted the rare honour for their steadfastness in the 18th century.
When the First World War broke out, factory metals became tightly rationed. In April 1916, the War Office temporarily suspended bi-metal designs, prompting manufacturers to stamp the badges entirely out of basic brass sheets. This historical variant was worn by local Worcestershire battalions fighting on the Western Front (including Gallipoli, the Somme, and Ypres)
