Used. Authentic, vintage military item. The badge shows an excellent deep blackened brass finish with minor rub wear on the raised high points exposing the brass underneath. The slider on the reverse is intact and solid.

Genuine British Army WWII Militaria – Collectible Cap Badge
Up for sale is an authentic, original King’s Crown cap badge for the Buckinghamshire Battalion. This distinctive Maltese Cross design features the iconic Swan of Buckinghamshire inside a circular garter, encircled by the text “BUCKINGHAMSHIRE BATTALION”. The cross is beautifully surmounted by the King’s Crown.
This is the standard Other Ranks issue badge featuring the correct chemically blackened brass finish. The reverse features a long, secure slider fixing mechanism.

History
The Buckinghamshire Battalion on the Frontline
The Buckinghamshire Battalion was a territorial unit of the Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire Light Infantry. Because rifle regiments and light infantry units traditionally favored camouflaged field gear, they wore blackened brass badges and buttons instead of bright, polished brass. The battalion served with immense distinction during World War II, notably defending positions during the intense fighting and retreat to Dunkirk in 1940, as well as serving as a beach group landing in Normandy on D-Day in 1944.
