DescriptionItem Overview – For sale is an exceptionally rare, 100% authentic World War I British Army Glamorgan Yeomanry Officer’s Service Dress (OSD) Cap Badge.

Unlike the common brass or bi-metal versions worn by lower ranks, this premium insignia is solid cast bronze, specifically commissioned for officers to complement their khaki Service Dress uniforms during the Great War. The face features the beautifully detailed Prince of Wales’s feathers emerging from a coronet, sitting above a flowing banner scroll cleanly cast with “GLAMORGAN YEOMANRY”.

Key Details & Features: Authentic Material: Solid bronze casting with deep, crisp visual detailing.

Fixing Type: Securely fitted with its original dual copper loops (lugs) on the reverse, used to pin the badge into soft officer caps.

Historical Period: True World War I production (Circa 1914–1918).

Condition Report – This badge is in very good antique condition. It boasts a stunning, untouched natural dark patina on the front, showing beautiful historic character. The reverse displays natural age-related oxidation and a rich green verdigris patina, serving as definitive proof of its natural aging and authenticity. History of the Glamorgan Yeomanry – The Glamorgan Yeomanry was a historic, elite territorial cavalry regiment of the British Army, strongly rooted in South Wales. Upon mobilization at the outbreak of the First World War in August 1914, the regiment initially served as mounted cavalry.

Due to the changing demands of the war, the regiment famously converted to infantry in 1916.
