Up for sale is a premium, personally historical World War I hand-embroidered silk pocket postcard featuring an interactive fold-out design. The front reads “Souvenir from France” and retains its original “To my dear Mother” insert. Crucially, the reverse features a handwritten pencil message from the soldier: “To Mother with love From George XXXXXX”. It bears the authentic French copyright mark “Modèle déposé A. O. – Visé, Paris”. A rare, deeply personal piece of social and military history.

History of the Item
This postcard tells a real story from the Great War. The reverse mark “Visé, Paris” indicates that the card frame design was officially reviewed and approved by the French wartime censorship and licensing offices in Paris. More importantly, the inscription shows it was bought, handled, and signed by a soldier named George to send back home to his mother while serving on the Western Front. Handwritten, named examples are highly prized because they connect the object directly to a real person during the war.
