Item History
The Middlesex Regiment was a renowned line infantry regiment of the British Army. The proud scroll reading “ALBUHERA” commemorates their legendary stand at the Battle of Albuera in 1811 during the Peninsular War, where their fierce reputation earned them the nickname “The Die-Hards”. During World War I, the regiment expanded massively to 49 battalions, serving with immense distinction on the Western Front, Gallipoli, and Mesopotamia. Silver-plated variations like this were highly prized private purchases made by officers to stand out on their dress uniforms.
