Up for sale is an authentic, original facing pair of World War II period Royal Army Ordnance Corps (RAOC) Officer’s bronze collar badges. This set includes both left-and-right facing versions intended for formal service dress uniforms.
The pieces feature gorgeous, crisp die-cast detailing, showcasing the iconic ordnance shield, the full Garter belt motto text, and the elegant King’s Crown crowning the top. The dark, chemically toned chocolate-bronze finish is characteristic of true mid-century Officers Service Dress insignia. This is a brilliant, complete addition for advanced collectors of British Army militaria, WW2 insignia, or specialist regimental history.

- Overall Condition: Very Good Vintage Condition.
- Cosmetic Finish: Retains an appealing, deep uniform dark bronze patina with very minor highlights from gentle historical handling. No harsh cleaning or polish damage.
- Reverse Side: Very clean, unpolished backs showing the deep, authentic casting definition.
- Fittings: All four copper-toned reverse fixing loop lugs are completely original, intact, and firmly attached to the backs. One badge features a tighter 15mm loop span, while the other features a 19mm span, which is a normal manufacturing variance for hand-finished operational pairs. No repairs or bends.
Item History
The Royal Army Ordnance Corps was responsible for the supply and maintenance of weapons, ammunition, and military equipment for the British Army. This specific design featuring the Tudor King’s Crown was worn prominently through the First and Second World Wars up until the coronation of Queen Elizabeth II in 1953. While standard ranks wore bright brass or economy plastic versions, the heavier die-cast chocolate-bronze variants were exclusively purchased by or issued to commissioned officers.
