Genuine WWII British Army 3rd King’s Own Hussars Bi-Metal Cap Badge
Up for sale is an authentic, original cross-era British Army cavalry cap badge representing the historic 3rd The King’s Own Hussars.
This badge features a beautiful, iconic bi-metal layout comprised of a white metal galloping horse set on a heavy-gauge stamped brass ground strip and title scroll bearing the regiment’s name. This particular specimen is the full-format 40mm x 58mm version, designed to be worn on standard service caps and cavalry headwear.
As shown in the reverse-side photographs, the multi-piece factory assembly tabs remain completely robust and unblemished. It is fitted with its original, robust brass rear slider bar and remains completely unpolished to preserve its vintage character and field-worn appeal. A phenomenal addition to any WWI or WWII militaria collection, cavalry display, or British army insignia collection.
History About the Item
The 3rd The King’s Own Hussars was a senior cavalry regiment of the British Army, originally raised in 1685 as the Queen Consort’s Regiment of Dragoons. Over centuries of service, the regiment earned a legendary reputation across global battlefields, transforming into a Hussar regiment in 1861.
The regiment’s famous White Horse of Hanover emblem was granted to them by King George I in 1715 as a reward for their loyalty and successful actions during the Jacobite rising. This badge layout, featuring the galloping horse over the custom title scroll, was proudly worn by the regiment through the muddy battlefields of the Western Front in World War I, and later during their mechanization into an armored unit fighting in North Africa, Italy, and Northwest Europe during World War II, until they ultimately amalgamated in 1958.
