Description
This is an authentic, antique World War II era military cap/glengarry badge for The Black Watch (Royal Highland Regiment). This specimen is the desirable “No Scrolls” variation officially introduced in March 1938, which cleanly omitted the top and bottom title scroll banners found on older patterns. Struck in beautiful white metal, the badge displays the diamond-cut faceted Star of the Order of the Thistle. The central medallion features St. Andrew holding his cross, encircled by the motto “Nemo Me Impune Lacessit”. The lower section displays the Sphinx emblem, and the top features the Imperial King’s Crown. The reverse features its original twin mounting lugs and comes complete with a secure wire split pin. A magnificent piece of WWII Scottish infantry history for dedicated militaria collectors.

Item History
The Black Watch is one of the most famous highland regiments in British military history. In 1936, the regiment updated its official title, leading to a newly designed badge pattern sealed in March 1938 that completely removed the top and bottom scrolls to simplify the layout. This exact style of white metal badge was proudly worn on the glengarry caps of other ranks throughout World War II, seeing action across Western Europe, North Africa, and Burma.
