Item Description – Up for sale is a genuine British Army bi-metal cap badge for the South Lancashire Regiment. It features the Prince of Wales’s plumes and the Sphinx on an Egypt battle honor tablet.The reverse side includes a straight brass slider fully intact. The slider is stamped with the maker’s mark: “J.R. GAUNT LONDON”. It has a great natural aged patina.

Item History – This version of the badge was introduced in 1938 and worn throughout World War II. The regiment fought in major campaigns including the D-Day landings in Normandy, Madagascar, and Burma.The design combines the Prince of Wales’s heraldic feathers with the Sphinx, which was awarded for victories in Egypt in 1801.
