Up for sale is an authentic, original British military cap badge for the Queen’s Own Royal West Kent Regiment, dating from the Second World War era. This classic insignia features a striking bi-metal design, showcasing the prominent rearing White Horse of Kent stamped in crisp white metal. The horse stands proudly upon a flowing banner reading “Invicta” (the motto of Kent, meaning undefeated). The lower foundation consists of a curved brass scroll framework split into three distinct segments bearing the unit title “Royal West Kent”.
The reverse side shows a distinct hollow-stamping and houses the original, long vertical brass slider attachment securely fixed behind the horse’s back. Item History
The Queen’s Own Royal West Kent Regiment was an elite line infantry regiment of the British Army that earned a legendary reputation for bravery. During World War II, battalions of the West Kent regiment fought with great honor across several crucial fronts. They saw heavy action during the Battle of France in 1940, the North African campaigns, the brutal mountain fighting in the Italian Campaign, and most famously during the epic defense of Kohima in India (1944), where their stubborn resistance helped halt the Japanese advance. This iconic badge layout carries the immense heritage of the West Kent soldiers who served throughout the 1939–1945 conflict.
