Item History
The Royal Militia of the Island of Jersey holds a historic lineage as one of the oldest military forces in the British Commonwealth. Ahead of World War II, the unit was formalized into the 11th (Royal Militia Island of Jersey) Battalion, The Hampshire Regiment. This specific insignia variant featuring the King’s Tudor Crown was proudly worn on berets and side caps by soldiers defending the Channel Islands prior to the German occupation in 1940, making it a deeply poignant piece of wartime history.
