Original WWII December 1944 Queensberry All-Services Club Variety Programme
Up for sale is a rare, complete original piece of World War II home front military entertainment history. This official weekly program documents the “All-Star Variety Programmes” staged for the week commencing Monday, 11th December 1944 at the famous Queensberry All-Services Club, operating out of the London Casino on Old Compton Street in Soho.
These specialized events were organized explicitly for the morale, recreation, and entertainment of the men and women serving in His Majesty’s (H.M.) and Allied Fighting Forces during the height of the war.
The inner pages showcase a fantastic, day-by-day theatrical and broadcasting line-up, showing a snapshot of wartime entertainment:
- Monday, Dec 11th: Stage door canteen variety program.
- Tuesday, Dec 12th: Live BBC Broadcasting of “Worker’s Playtime” featuring popular variety turns and stars.
- Wednesday, Dec 13th: Audition and show program.
