Up for auction or purchase is an incredibly rare, 100% authentic pre-WWII boxing collectible—a full, unseparated admission ticket from Monday, 29th November 1937. This historic piece of ephemera was issued by Harringay Arena Limited in London for a major international 10-Round Heavyweight Contest.
The main event card featured legendary New Zealand heavyweight Maurice Strickland squaring off against Canadian challenger Al Delaney. Strickland famously went on to win this historic match.
The ticket is for a premium “Plush Seat” priced at 18 Shillings. Uniquely, both the “To Be Given Up” portion and the “To Be Retained” portion are completely intact and remain attached. The ticket is officially stamped across both sides with the word “COMPLIMENTARY” in its original purple ink, indicating it was originally gifted to a VIP or special guest. It features the printed signature facsimile of the General Manager, James Brown, at the lower right corner.
The reverse side of the ticket contains fascinating historical details, including strict “Middlesex County Council” venue regulations banning photography and cameras, a warning that “BETTING IS STRICTLY PROHIBITED”, and vintage transit instructions on “How to get to Harringay from the West End” via the Piccadilly line or road. A remarkable addition for any museum-grade pre-war British boxing archive or vintage sports ticket collection.

Item History
Built in 1936, the iconic indoor Harringay Arena was the absolute epicenter of British boxing and ice hockey during the late 1930s. This November 1937 fight was a major stepping stone for Kiwi heavyweight star Maurice Strickland, who trained extensively in London during this golden era of boxing. Strickland was renowned for his power, ending his storied career with an incredible 33 knockout victories. Finding full, unseparated tickets from this legendary venue prior to World War II is exceptionally difficult, as the vast majority of stubs were torn by turnstile operators upon entrance.
