Up for sale is an incredibly rare, museum-quality piece of pre-World War II British sports history: an original 1938 Belvedere Football Club 4th Annual Dinner & Dance programme, menu, and toast card.
This 14cm x 8.8cm textured card stock booklet opens to show the full four-course vintage dinner menu (featuring Potage Parmentiere and Peach Trifle) alongside the ceremonial toasts list.
The crown jewel of this piece is the front cover, which features a massive, clear fountain-pen ink autograph reading “Sincerely, Eddie Phillips”. Eddie Phillips was the famous 1935 British Light Heavyweight Champion boxer and iconic 1930s sports celebrity who attended this football dinner as a special guest of honor. This is a completely unique cross-over item for advanced collectors of pre-war football memorabilia, vintage boxing autographs, or London local sports history.

Item History
This programme was saved directly from the dinner tables at the King’s Oak hotel on April 23rd, 1938, where the club members celebrated their season just months before the outbreak of WWII. It has been kept safely in flat archival storage for nearly nine decades, perfectly preserving the paper quality and the vintage fountain pen ink.
